Position Summary
The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for sourcing, attracting, and hiring qualified candidates across multiple departments, including skilled trades, field operations, shop personnel, engineering, and administrative roles.
This position supports workforce demands during peak operational periods and plays a critical role in maintaining staffing levels that directly impact project timelines, safety, and productivity.
The role requires strong recruiting execution, high-volume coordination, and strict adherence to California employment laws and hiring compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting & Sourcing
- Source candidates for skilled trades (welders, fitters, laborers, operators), as well as administrative and technical roles
- Utilize job boards, social media, industry networks, trade schools, and local outreach efforts
- Build and maintain active candidate pipelines for current and future workforce needs
- Conduct initial phone screenings and evaluate candidate qualifications
Hiring Process Coordination
- Support full-cycle recruiting activities from job posting through offer stage
- Schedule interviews, coordinate with hiring manager communication, and manage candidate flow
- Assist with pre-employment processes
- Support onboarding coordination with HR department
Workforce Support
- Partner with HR Director and department leaders to understand short-term staffing needs
- Track open positions and provide regular updates on hiring progress
- Support urgent and high-volume hiring demands during peak project periods
Employer Branding & Outreach
- Represent the company at job fairs, trade schools, and community hiring events
- Promote company culture, safety expectations, and career opportunities
- Assist in developing job postings and recruiting materials
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate candidate and hiring records within the ATS/HRIS system
- Ensure all recruiting and hiring activities comply with federal, state, and California employment laws
- Support documentation related to EEO, ADA, and FCRA requirements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of recruiting or staffing experience (construction, industrial, or high-volume environments preferred)
- Experience sourcing hourly and skilled labor positions
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple open roles
- Effective communication and follow-through
- Working knowledge of California hiring and employment compliance
Preferred
- Experience recruiting in construction, fabrication, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with ATS or HRIS systems (BambooHR, etc.)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Experience with field or trade-based workforce recruiting
Work Environment
- Combination of office and field exposure (as needed)
- May require attendance at job sites, hiring events, or trade schools
