Job Summary:

Virginia Farm Bureau is searching for a Director of Talent Acquisition, reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, to oversee the entire recruitment process, developing strategies to attract top talent, managing a recruiter and any outsourced recruiting vendors, and ensuring positive candidate & hiring manager experiences. Collaborating with senior leadership and hiring managers to understand current and future workforce needs, analyzing & reporting recruitment metrics, and implementing best practices to enhance organizational talent acquisition efforts.

This position is based out of our beautiful West Creek Office location, 12580 West Creek Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23238.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directing the recruitment process from start to finish, ensuring all parties have good experiences and quality outcomes: Business leader, Hiring manager, Candidate, and Recruiter.
  • Connecting with senior leaders to anticipate future hiring, talent, and skills needs.
  • Prioritizing and strategizing open job advertisement options to ensure maximum visibility.
  • Testing and evaluating recruiting strategies: Verbiage, Salary, Advertisement Placement, Benefits, Sites, etc. to maximize results.
  • Creatively sourcing highly skilled candidates to fill open positions in a timely manner.
  • Partnering with Marketing to develop and maintain a compelling employment brand.
  • Working with Communications and Marketing to regularly present our employment brand and open jobs in social media channels.
  • Developing job-family marketing strategies to advertise in both traditional & non-traditional channels.
  • Aligning recruiting practices with compensation policies and strategies.
  • Assigning recruiters with consideration to priorities; determining when to recruit in-house, versus needing to outsource work for specialized skills or speed.
  • Traveling to county sites, as needed, to support recruitment needs and events.
  • Developing and managing an annual recruiting budget.
  • Establishing, measuring, and reporting the performance of recruiting KPI�s, & driving improvements.
  • Reviewing all marketing strategies and employment offers before they are executed.
  • Ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies to prevent any adverse implications.
  • Developing and managing recruiting practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Performing all recruiting responsibilities for senior level positions, as a recruiter.
  • Serving as a back-up for recruiters � volume spikes, vacation, sick, or urgent needs.
  • Hiring, training, and managing the performance of recruiters and candidate sourcers.
  • Staying informed about hiring & community events, registering and assigning coverage.
  • Monitoring & responding (as needed) to employment feedback on social media channels � Indeed, LinkedIn, Glass Door, etc.
  • Populating the employer landing pages with brand & info to attract top talent. (Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Other)
  • Selecting and managing vendor agreements & performance: Sourcing Software, Social Media Platforms, Applicant Tracking Systems, AI Candidate Screening, Skills Testing Products & Platforms.
  • Negotiating terms and managing contracts with Temporary Staffing Agencies and Placement Firms for specialized recruiting needs.
  • Training hiring managers in how to interview and select candidates.
  • Defining and ensuring the desired candidate experience and measuring performance.
  • Ensuring every candidate has an enjoyable experience and leaves w/ a favorable view of VAFB.
  • Partnering with HR VP to assess implications for hiring personnel in states other than Virginia.
  • Managing the company relocation program, all related terms, vendors, etc.
  • Leading the employee candidate referral program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Human Resources or President.

Required skills and qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment (at least 3 days in office and some weeks may require 4) and travel within the state of Virginia ~10% of the time.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Manager, Director, or Head of Recruiting & managing recruiters.
  • Proven experience in managing an employment brand and innovative ways to market open positions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, leadership and collaborative skills to work with Senior Leaders, Hiring Managers, Recruiters, and Candidates.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to leverage data and insights for informed decision-making.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Experience recruiting for a sales organization.
  • SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP
