Quanex is seeking a Talent Acquisition (TA) Coordinator to join our team in Houston, Texas or Mounds View, Minnesota.

The Talent Acquisition (TA) Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the hiring and onboarding of hourly and salaried employees within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role is heavily focused on pre-employment processing, onboarding system administration, and employment eligibility compliance. The Coordinator ensures new hires are fully cleared, compliant, and prepared to begin work in a timely manner. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable serving as a key point of contact for candidates, hiring managers, and internal HR partners.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Initiate and manage all pre-employment activities for hourly and salaried positions, including background checks, drug screens, reference checks (if applicable), and pre-hire documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the pre-employment and onboarding process, ensuring timely communication and a positive experience.
  • Coordinate start dates and ensure all onboarding requirements are completed prior to the new hire’s first day.
  • Partner closely with Recruiters, Hiring Managers, and field HR to ensure seamless handoff from offer acceptance through onboarding completion.
  • Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the company’s onboarding platform.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of onboarding content, tasks, forms, and workflows.
  • Troubleshoot system issues related to onboarding access, completion, or data integrity, escalating when necessary.
  • Monitor onboarding progress and follow up with new hires or internal stakeholders to address outstanding tasks.
  • Initiate and manage E-Verify cases in compliance with federal regulations and company policies.
  • Troubleshoot E-Verify errors, Tentative Non-confirmations (TNCs), and system issues, working closely with candidates and internal HR partners.
  • Stay current on changes to E-Verify, I-9, and employment eligibility regulations and apply updates to processes as needed.
  • Track onboarding, pre-employment clearance, and compliance metrics such as turnaround times, completion rates, and exception trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve onboarding efficiency, accuracy, and candidate experience.
  • Support audits, internal reviews, and compliance checks related to hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Assist with documentation of standard operating procedures and training materials related to onboarding and pre-employment workflows.

      What You Bring:

      • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
      • 1 – 3 years of experience in talent acquisition coordination, onboarding, or HR operations.
      • Hands-on experience with onboarding systems, applicant tracking systems (ATS), or HRIS platforms.
      • Working knowledge of I-9 and E-Verify requirements and processes.
      • Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment compliance requirements.
      • Experience troubleshooting HR systems or onboarding platforms.
      • SHRM or HR-related certification (a plus).
      • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
      • Customer-service mindset with a focus on candidate experience.
      • Problem-solving skills and comfort handling sensitive or confidential information.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and HR systems.

      The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000 with bonus potential.
