About Stronger Communities New York (SCNY)
Stronger Communities New York (SCNY) reflects the combined administrative partnership between The House of the Good Shepherd (HGS) and Together for Youth (TFY). SCNY is not a separate organization; it simply represents the shared administrative functions and coordinated efforts of both agencies as they support children and families across New York State. HGS is based in Utica, NY, and TFY operates in Canaan, NY. This position provides recruitment support across both agencies within the SCNY framework. The Director of Recruitment may be based in either Utica or Canaan and will follow the policies, benefits, and compensation structure of The House of the Good Shepherd, as outlined in the HGS employee handbook.
What You’ll Do
Take ownership of the end-to-end recruiting process for a diverse range of positions. Partner with hiring managers to identify needs, source top talent by pre-screening resumes and job applications to evaluate relevant knowledge and experience, and initial phone contact with qualified candidates. Ensure timely communication with applicants and provide a positive candidate experience. Ensure all documentation related to recruitment, screening, and hiring is accurately maintained in internal database/systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Full Recruitment Lifecycle: Take ownership of the end-to-end recruiting process for a diverse range of positions. Partner with hiring managers to identify needs, source top talent by pre-screening resumes and job applications to evaluate relevant knowledge and experience, and initial phone contact with qualified candidates. Ensure timely communication with applicants and provide a positive candidate experience. Ensure all documentation related to recruitment, screening, and hiring is accurately maintained in internal databases/systems.
Proactively Source Talent: Utilize a variety of internal and external channels to build a robust talent pool. This includes cold calling, database searches, networking, and leveraging digital and social media platforms. Develop strategic partnerships and utilize creative solutions to attract high-quality candidates.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Make recommendations to talent acquisition manager to enhance recruitment strategies and support retention initiatives.
Event Participation: Attend and actively participate in recruitment and networking events such as job fairs, career days, and community events to promote the organization and attract talent
Compliance and Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as agency policies and procedures. Support the organization's mission, vision, and values through adherence to internal policies and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
Innovative Recruiting Strategies: Collaborate with the recruiting team and leadership to develop and implement innovative recruiting processes and strategies. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to remain competitive in talent acquisition.
Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with job boards, social networks, and recruitment platforms to identify emerging talent trends. Collaborate with the Marketing Department to create and distribute engaging employment opportunities and announcements.
What we are looking for
Education: Associates degree in human resources or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in human resources preferred.
Experience: 3 years of full cycle recruiting(including background check) experience required with a focus on human services being advantageous. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS)
Certifications: Preferred certifications include SHRM-CP/PHR or SHRM-SCP/SPHR, with SHRM's Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential being a plus.
License and Schedule: Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required by the agency.
