Let’s introduce ourselves
We’re a venture-scaler powered by CommBank. That means we build, buy, and invest in startups that could benefit the bank’s 15 million customers and beyond.
Because of what we do, we’re really neither corporate, nor startup – instead we’re happily navigating the space between both worlds. We're close enough to benefit from the bank’s strategy, scale, and stability, but separate enough that we have the autonomy to try new things.
Where would you fit?
We’re looking for a Tech Talent Acquisition Partner who thrives in the fast-paced world of venture scaling and startups. You’ll play a critical role in scaling our team by finding, engaging, and hiring the best talent across our engineering, tech and product design portfolios. You’ll be a trusted partner to our leaders, shaping hiring strategies and ensuring a world-class candidate experience.
Alongside recruitment, you’ll also contribute to People Experience initiatives — helping us create an environment where our team thrives, from onboarding through to ongoing engagement.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to combine the craft of tech recruiting with the impact of building culture at scale.
This role requires someone with a deep understanding of modern technical stacks, the ways of working in agile, lean environments, and the ability to flex across multiple priorities while nurturing strong stakeholder relationships and candidate experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Managing Directors, hiring managers, and leadership to understand role requirements and team dynamics and translate them into effective talent strategies.
- Own the end-to-end hiring process for technical roles (software engineers, data engineers, AI/ML engineers, etc.)
- Build scalable pipelines using direct sourcing, LinkedIn recruiter, communities, referrals, and outbound strategies.
- Contribute to employer branding initiatives to showcase our culture and opportunities in the market.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing market intelligence on talent availability, salary benchmarks, and hiring strategies.
- Drive candidate experience with transparency, speed, and engagement to strengthen employer branding.
- Use data to track hiring progress and continuously refine strategies.
- Driving strategic initiatives within People Experience and delivering projects across the people portfolio like Inclusion and onboarding.
Your Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a talent partner, ideally in a startup/scaleup or tech/fintech environment.
- Proven ability to hire across modern engineering stacks.
- Solid understanding of startup dynamics – zero-to-one team building, lean hiring practices, and scaling challenges.
- Strong track record in stakeholder management – influencing MDs, CTOs, product leaders, and engineering managers.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements into compelling narratives for candidates.
- Ability to balance speed with quality, flexing between strategic talent planning and hands-on sourcing.
- Experience building diverse pipelines and driving inclusive hiring practices.
- Ability to navigate complex processes and ways of working that enable operating at pace.
- Knowledge of talent mapping and competitor analysis within startup and scale-up ecosystems.
- Thrives in ambiguity, enjoys problem-solving, and adapts quickly in a fast-moving environment.
- Excited by the idea of helping to shape not just who we hire, but how we build culture as we scale.
