Position Summary

The Talent Acquisition & Compensation Specialist (TACS) is an essential position within the Labor Credit Union. This role enables the credit union to fulfill our purpose of being the foundation of financial success for our members by supporting organizational efforts to attract and retain top-tier talent. The TACS is responsible for carrying out the duties and responsibilities outlined below in alignment with Labor CU’s values of being Bold & Innovative, Convenient, Inclusive, demonstrating a Culture of Leadership, and ensuring Financial Stability.
This position is responsible for the administration of compensation and benefits, assisting with recruitment, maintaining the employee handbook and HR procedures manual, and responding to employee questions regarding pay, benefits, policies, and procedures.
 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review time and attendance records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Administer and maintain payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, and other deductions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates such as new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, as well as best practices.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including group insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and the 401(k) plan.
  • Assist in recruiting for current and future openings, including updating and managing job postings, reviewing candidates, and preparing job offers.
  • Support onboarding of new employees, including orientation, benefits overview, company policies, practices, and I-9 verification.
  • Assist in the development of procedures and maintain the employee handbook.
  • Assist in the administration of FMLA and DC Paid Family Leave.
  • Coordinate unemployment claims, COBRA and related documentation.
  • Support the administration of workers’ compensation claims.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the credit union.
 
Position Requirements
  • Knowledge of payroll functions and HR labor laws and regulations; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, including recruitment and talent acquisition responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy as a key attribute.
  • Ability to understand business processes and employee needs across all functions of the credit union.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Paycor or similar HRIS/payroll systems preferred.
