Position Overview
The HR Talent Acquisition Specialist drives Jump Start Stores’ talent-acquisition efforts and supports key HR functions. This position focuses primarily on attracting, sourcing, and hiring qualified candidates across retail, and corporate while also assisting with onboarding, compliance, and employee-relations activities. The ideal candidate is an energetic people-connector who excels at identifying top talent, building strong pipelines, and representing Jump Start Stores’ brand in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing (Primary Focus)
- Partner with department leaders to understand current and future hiring needs.
- Draft and post compelling job advertisements through Paycom, Indeed, and local job boards.
- Proactively source candidates using multiple channels (networking, referrals, LinkedIn, community programs).
- Conduct phone screens, coordinate interviews, and facilitate manager feedback and selections.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process from requisition approval to offer acceptance.
- Attend job fairs, career days, and community events to strengthen employer branding and build talent pipelines.
- Track key recruiting metrics (time to fill, cost per hire, source effectiveness) and identify areas for improvement.
- Partner with hiring managers to develop consistent interview and selection standards.
Onboarding & Orientation
- Prepare offer letters and coordinate new hire paperwork and background checks.
- Schedule and facilitate new hire orientation sessions and training introductions.
- Ensure a seamless new hire experience by communicating clearly and professionally throughout the process.
HR Support
- Respond to basic employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Maintain confidential employee records and assist with performance review tracking.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure all hiring and employment activities comply with federal and Kansas state laws (EEO, I-9, ADA, FMLA).
- Maintain accurate recruiting and employee data within the HRIS/ATS system.
- Assist in audits and compliance reporting as directed by the HR Director.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in full-cycle recruiting and HR support
- Proficiency in Paycom or similar ATS/HRIS platforms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and best recruiting practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple open requisitions and meet tight deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and confidential judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Willingness to travel periodically for job fairs and store support.
