Position Title: Director of Talent Acquisition 

Location: Chicago or Dallas - Hybrid position with a minimum of 2-3 days in office

  

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Builds and leads a scalable, high-impact Talent Acquisition function that supports the growth and operational goals of the organization. Ability to create a recruiting strategy and employee value proposition aligned with the company culture, values and business goals.  
  • Designs and implements streamlined, repeatable recruiting processes including job descriptions, sourcing strategy, interview flow, and onboarding with a hands-on, operational approach. 
  • Partners with hiring managers to develop strategic staffing plans across union and non-union employee populations, ensuring alignment with business priorities. 
  • Leads all aspects of union hiring, ensuring compliance with labor requirements and delivering a smooth candidate experience. Collaborating and supporting branch and service managers to make recruiting easier for them.  
  • Acts as a project manager for key talent initiatives setting timelines, managing stakeholders, and ensuring follow-through and execution. 
  • Ensure compliance with any applicable laws regarding background checks, credit checks, drug screening, pay transparency, job description content or federal or state laws applicable to recruitment activities. 
  • Owns the employee lifecycle from a TA perspective, supporting programs that span. administrative onboarding and compliance in each state with respect to posting, job boards, career page content, pay transparency, drug testing and use of assessments and skills tests. 
  • Collaborate with HR and operations leaders to improve onboarding processes that accelerate new hire productivity and retention. 
  • Measures and tracks talent acquisition effectiveness through clear metrics and KPIs, using data to continuously improve the hiring experience. 
  • Brings an operational mindset to systems management, especially related to ADP, performance cycles, and hiring tools. 
  • Cultivates a high-performance, values-driven culture through consistent focus on employee engagement and strategic hiring. 
  • Coaches and develops a small recruiting team, fostering resilience, ownership, and the ability to adapt in a fast-changing environment. 
  • Partners closely with the CPO to execute the broader People strategy with integrity, speed, and flexibility. 

  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in HR, business, or related field preferred. 
  • 10+ years of proven experience in a senior level Talent Acquisition role or leadership position, with demonstrated success building and scaling recruiting teams and systems. 
  • Must have experience working with and recruiting for unionized workforces. 
  • Track record of being highly hands-on, operational, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong background in project management, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with clarity and efficiency. 
  • Development and use of assessments to ensure consistent adoption and 
  • Proven ability to create and document workflows, approval matrices and 
  • Ability to negotiate, manage and maintain 3rd party recruiting agreements both contingent and retained.  
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to establishing relationships with the field and hiring managers. 
  • Experience with workforce planning and collaboration with the operations and finance team on workforce planning.  
  • Experience establishing military, technical and construction school and other trade-focused recruiting and career events to attract talent 
  • Proficient in HR and recruiting systems, with working knowledge of ADP as a preference and experience leveraging systems for performance and hiring cycles. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence through change, particularly in dynamic or high-growth companies. 
  • Experience in collaborating with the business and other HR team members to support the company talent objectives and to be a strong contributor or owner of talent management and employee onboarding change management initiatives. 
  • Data-driven mindset with experience building and analyzing metrics to inform decisions and strategy.
