Halifax Water is Atlantic Canada's largest water utility, providing integrated water, wastewater and stormwater utility for more than 106,000 customers daily. The goal of Talent Acquisition Specialist is:
- To ensure roles are filled in an efficient and timely manner with qualified employees, while creating an exceptional candidate experience.
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will:
- Be responsible for the full cycle recruitment of various positions across Halifax Water.
- Work in conjunction with the People & Culture team members to provide expertise and hands-on support in a broad range of human resources functions, including recruitment and selection, talent management, and workforce planning.
- Be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders, and communicating and delivering various recruitment and retention programs and initiatives to the business.
- Play a significant role in the development and implementation of strategic talent management plans to ensure staffing needs are being met.
To do this job, you need to have:
- A university degree in a related field (or suitable combinations of directly related formal education and experience may be considered).
- A Chartered Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation (or be willing to obtain).
- A Registered Professional Recruiter designation (or be willing to obtain).
- Three to five years of broad related HR generalist experience with experience in talent acquisition/ recruiting.
- Previous experience in a unionized environment would be an asset.

As a public service utility operating critical infrastructure on behalf of our customers, our employees are trained in Emergency Measures Operations (EMO) and Incident Command System (ICS). This type of training allows Halifax Water to respond to all emergencies, from simple water main breaks to keeping customer water flowing (water, wastewater, and stormwater) through Hurricanes and other major natural events.
