Brooklyn Public Library seeks a Recruiter to join our Human Resources team.  The Talent Acquisition (TA) Specialist will use their expertise to source candidates through various channels, plan interview and selection procedures and create strong and diverse talent pipelines for the Library’s current and future hiring needs. The TA Specialist will also work to support the Library’s goals around diversity, equity & inclusion to attract, hire and retain diverse talent. To be successful, the TA Specialist must establish cooperative and strategic working relationships with their hiring departments while maintaining a positive candidate experience throughout the selection and hiring process. We seek a creative and ambitious individual who aligns with our energetic environment and will help the team expand capacity around talent acquisition strategies for the library.

This is a full-time, non-union, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000.


Responsibilities

  • Lead a full cycle hiring process for assigned positions to include exempt, non-exempt, union and temporary roles utilizing the Library’s Applicant Tracking System

  • Work collaboratively with hiring managers to understand hiring goals, timelines and resources

  • Responsible for the interview and selection process: job postings, pre-screen candidates, conduct interview strategy meetings and lead wrap-up discussions with panel members

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders (professional organizations, universities, etc.) to attract diverse candidates

  • Recommend new ideas for improving talent acquisition activities around diversity, equity & inclusion

  • Work closely with internal departments to develop creative ways for addressing talent acquisition challenges

  • Foster long-term relationships with past applicants and potential candidates to maintain a robust pipeline of talent

  • Manage job posting process and identify appropriate sites to advertise positions; create posts for social media ads

  • Manage agency relationships to fill positions and/or temp assignments

  • Research talent acquisition trends and keep up to date with industry changes

  • Create and analyze monthly reports on key talent acquisition metrics

  • Conduct exit interviews, background checks, personal references

  • Advise and support department managers to develop job descriptions with accurate responsibilities and qualifications

  • Submit new hire paperwork and update appropriate stakeholders when onboarding new hires

  • Serve as brand ambassador at various events, like career fairs or on-campus recruiting events

  • Work with colleagues to support the work and goals of the Human Resources Department

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 4-5 years of progressive recruiting experience within a high-volume environment

  • Hands-on experience with full-cycle recruiting using various interview techniques and evaluation methods

  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems and background vendors

  • Demonstrated knowledge of various recruiting techniques, experience in online/social media recruiting

  • Excellent oral/written communication, marketing, presentation, interviewing and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent relationship building and the desire to provide exceptional customer service

  • Strong understanding of staffing principles, laws, and procedures

  • Strong customer service, negotiation skills and ability to interact with employees at all levels

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Forms, etc.)

  • Strong work ethic and sense of integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Creative in brainstorming and proposing new ideas and solutions to existing problems

  • Self-starter with excellent time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills

  • Must exhibit flexibility under pressure and demonstrated ability to produce results

  • Nonprofit and/or experience with unionized environment a plus

  • Passion for recruiting a must

  • Travel to branches, recruitment events & fairs as needed
