JOB GOAL:
The Talent Acquisition and Engagement Specialist will lead recruiting efforts for teaching and non-teaching roles across KCKPS K-12, focusing on building a diverse talent pipeline and meeting workforce goals. This role also develops marketing strategies, leveraging social media and brand awareness to enhance recruitment and retention while fostering an inclusive work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support recruitment and retention efforts through an equity lens, focusing on diversifying staff to enhance HR’s ability to hire and retain diverse employees.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to recruit diverse applicants in a multi-site organization for teachers and non-teaching positions within PreK-12 schools and departments
- Establish business relationships with department leaders and hiring managers as assigned to this position and develop an in-depth knowledge of their recruitment needs
- advise on the district’s hiring process.
- Provide and/or explain job offers to candidates, including salary packages, incentives and benefits
- Provide continuous feedback to hiring managers and manage the candidate experience
- Collect and analyze recruitment, retention, and turnover data to identify trends and gaps.
- Conduct “stay” and exit interviews to strengthen retention strategies and track voluntary separations.
- Assist current employees with career development to support internal advancement opportunities.
- Research, develop, and execute creative marketing and branding campaigns using various media (e.g., print, social media, and video) to promote recruitment and positive district imaging.
- Manage district social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) and coordinate branding efforts with the communications department.
- Plan, support and attend recruitment events, including local, state, and national, and district-hosted events.
- Build candidate pipelines by collaborating with administrators to understand the culture and personnel needs of each building and department
- Establishes contact with candidates at recruitment events, conducts pre-screening interviews, and constantly develops a pool of candidates, which creates a pipeline for all positions
- Guide prospective employees through job postings, hiring processes, and district information.
- Implement a plan to cultivate relationships with new hires throughout the first year, monitor satisfaction, and increase retention

- Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
- Maintain accuracy of the applicant tracking system (ATS) to track and report key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing activity, as well as the success of various
- Assist with orientations and other HR-related tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in recruitment, including hard-to-fill positions in industries like education or technical fields.
- Understanding of full-cycle recruiting and experience with various interview formats (e.g., phone, behavioral, group, virtual).
- Knowledge of labor, employment, and hiring laws.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with social media, websites, and mass media (e.g., TV, radio) for branding and marketing purposes.
- Proficiency with audio, video, marketing, and communication tools, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education.
- Current or previous licensed/certified teaching experience.
- Two years of recruitment experience in K-12, post-secondary education, or alternative teacher programs.
- Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
- Preferred: 2+ years in human resources, social media campaigns, or marketing.

- Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Education, educational agencies, federal/state/local agencies, school personnel, parents/guardians, businesses, and the community.
- Enhance cooperative efforts to meet the educational needs of students.
- Compile and analyze data for statistical purposes while maintaining the confidentiality of district records.
- Communicate effectively in both written and oral formats, ensuring clarity and precision.
- Provide instructions, assignments, or directions to assistants or subordinates as needed to fulfill responsibilities.
