Duties

In the Student Trainee (Talent Acquisition Optimization Project), your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Designs New Employee Welcome Handbook.
  • Creates Digitized Hiring Manager Toolkit.
  • Designs flyers, social media posts, or "day-in-the-life" content to showcase OMB's culture and real-world impact.
  • Engages with peers and team members to obtain knowledge needed to complete projects.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records for all assigned projects.
  • Participates in team meetings and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Presents findings for projects and assignments.

Requirements

Conditions of employment

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S National studying in the U.S. or abroad. International students on valid visas may participate if they meet applicable immigration, visa, and agency authorities.
  • Be enrolled not less than half-time in an accredited trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited educational institution.
  • Be in good academic standing as defined by your institution.
  • Commit to volunteering 8 – 20 hours per week for a minimum of 90 days.
  • Complete all required onboarding documentation assigned by the Federal agency and your academic institution.
  • You must submit to a drug test and receive a negative test result prior to appointment to this position. After appointment, you may be subject to periodic random drug testing.
  • Agree to volunteer. This position is unpaid. No compensation, stipends, or hiring preference will be granted from this work. You may use this volunteer experience to qualify for future jobs you choose to apply for.
  • You must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Agree to understanding volunteers are not Federal employees.
  • You will be required to report to an EOP assigned office.

Qualifications

Applicants will be assessed individually based on the knowledge, skills and abilities related to the project.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Manage multiple priorities and track project milestones to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Utilize common office automation software, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook), SharePoint, and similar collaboration tools.
  • Design and develop professional recruitment and marketing materials using Canva, Adobe Express, or comparable platforms.
  • Leverage social media platforms, including LinkedIn and Handshake, to promote recruitment initiatives.
  • Develop effective communications and public relations materials, such as flyers and promotional content; and plan, coordinate, and support recruitment and outreach events.
  • Navigate ambiguity, and adapt to evolving project requirements and organizational priorities.
  • Adapt quickly and proactively learn new concepts, tools, and processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate information clearly through strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications not required: Students majoring in human resources, human capital, business administration, organizational leadership, digital media & design or related field.
