The Senior Talent Acquisition Advisor is responsible for attracting and hiring top talent to help enable CN’s objective of being North America’s number one railroad. The role is accountable for candidate engagement throughout the hiring process including job posting management, sourcing, conducting and scheduling interviews, extending offers and completing the necessary paperwork and processes to onboard new hires. Furthermore, the position works proactively to ensure CN builds a diverse workforce.
· Complete the full recruitment cycle for management and unionized roles across North America
· Develop a deep understanding of CN’s talent needs across different teams and groups
· Build and maintain collaborative relationships with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs while providing expertise on market trends and hiring
· Work towards building and maintaining strong talent pipelines for multiple, complex searches by leveraging numerous platforms
· Source candidates through database mining, direct sourcing, vendor partnerships and referrals
· Conduct initial conversations with potential candidates to evaluate qualifications, providing feedback and recommendations on next steps
· Create talent‑mapping PowerPoint presentations highlighting best‑fit candidates and providing clear recommendations for selection
· Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the entire recruitment process
· Handle the job offer process including offer extensions and negotiation
· Collaborate and share knowledge and best practices with the Talent Acquisition (TA) and Human Resources (HR) teams
· Augment training for TA Advisors within the team providing coaching and guidance on best practices and processes to ensure consistency and encourage overall team development
· Ensure data integrity and accuracy through CN’s internal Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
· Act as an ambassador within the TA team and across the organization
· Ensure that recruiting and hiring practices comply with corporate policies and governmental regulations
· Participate in special projects and recruiting initiatives to contribute to the
short- and long-term goals and growth of CN
· Identify areas of process improvement and provide relevant solutions to enhance the TA team’s strategic goals
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress.
Recruitment
· Minimum 5 years of relevant overall experience
· Minimum 2 years of recruiting experience in transportation, operations, or a trades-based environment
· Bachelor’s Degree in HR or equivalent*
