Opportunity
Reporting to the VP, Talent, the Director of Talent Acquisition is responsible for shaping and executing the talent acquisition strategy for DeVry University. While this role involves leading strategic initiatives to attract, engage, and hire top talent across the institution, it also includes a blend of tactical responsibilities to ensure efficient daily operations. The Director leads a team of Talent Acquisition consultants, overseeing not only the full hiring lifecycle but also the continuous improvement of recruitment processes, compliance management, and employer branding efforts. This position also manages Federal Work Study hiring, ensuring compliance and timely onboarding. The Director partners with key stakeholders to ensure that both strategic and operational aspects of the recruitment function support DeVry’s long-term growth and talent development objectives.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership to a team of Talent Acquisition professionals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of care, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop, mentor, and coach team members, helping them grow professionally and achieve recruitment targets.
- Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback to drive results.
Recruitment
- Lead recruitment efforts for key positions including Visiting Professor and Federal Work Study positions, the development of sourcing strategies and the management of the full recruitment lifecycle.
- Partner with leadership to understand the hiring needs for critical roles and ensure the right talent is sourced, engaged, and hired in a timely manner.
- Utilize creative and strategic methods to attract top talent and maintain an active pipeline for high-priority positions.
Employer Branding
- Oversee and enhance employer branding strategy across platforms like Glassdoor, LinkedIn, and Indeed to attract top talent and improve employee engagement.
- Manage and monitor the Glassdoor page, responding to reviews, optimizing content, and ensuring alignment with the overall employer brand narrative.
Federal Work Study Program Ownership
- Ownership of the Federal Work Study hiring process, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with departments to identify and fulfill staffing needs related to the Federal Work Study program.
- Maintain accurate records to meet audit and compliance requirements.
Strategic Recruitment Initiatives
- Develop and implement innovative talent acquisition strategies to attract diverse, high-performing candidates across all levels of the organization.
- Lead efforts to improve recruitment processes, technology, and tools, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and a positive candidate experience.
- Collaborate with HR and other key stakeholders to support workforce planning and forecast recruitment needs based on organizational growth.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with leadership to understand staffing requirements and provide strategic recruitment insights.
- Ensure alignment between Talent Acquisition objectives and overall business goals, presenting reports and recruitment metrics to executive leadership
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
- Champion DEI initiatives within the recruitment process, ensuring hiring practices are inclusive and attract a diverse talent pool.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to promote diversity-focused recruitment strategies and meet organizational DEI goals.
Compliance and Best Practices
- Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the Talent Acquisition function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition, with experience overseeing a team.
- Proven experience recruiting for senior level positions.
- Experience managing Federal Work Study or similar student hiring programs.
- Strong understanding of talent acquisition best practices, compliance, and employment laws.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and recruitment technologies.
- Demonstrated success in implementing DEI initiatives within recruitment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Experience in creating awareness of the company brand and establishing professional relationships with candidates.
- Proficiency in documenting processes and keeping up with industry trends
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and high level of detail orientation.
