Position Summary
Are you a Talent Acquisition Specialist, Recruiter, or HR professional in the construction, transportation, or highway maintenance industry looking to take the next step in your career? S&L Industrial is looking for a motivated THR/Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our team.
As the first point of contact for prospective employees, you will play a critical role in identifying, attracting, and hiring qualified candidates for field, CDL driver, operations, and administrative positions. You will partner closely with hiring managers to support workforce planning and ensure a positive candidate experience from application through onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, screen, and qualify candidates for a variety of positions.
- Conduct phone interviews and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future openings.
- Manage applicant tracking systems and recruiting databases.
- Attend job fairs, hiring events, and community outreach activities to promote employment opportunities.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements including background checks, drug screenings, and DOT-related hiring requirements.
- Communicate regularly with candidates regarding application status and next steps.
- Partner with operations leadership to understand staffing needs and recruiting priorities.
- Assist with onboarding activities to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
- Track recruiting metrics and provide reports on hiring activity and effectiveness.
- Promote the company's culture, values, and commitment to safety throughout the recruiting process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, and/or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience required.
- Experience recruiting in construction, transportation, highway maintenance, manufacturing, or other skilled labor industries preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT hiring requirements and compliance is a plus.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems and online recruiting platforms.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple openings and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
