Sumitomo Electric Interconnect Products, Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a HR Generalist & Talent Acquisition Specialist.
About the Role
We are seeking a versatile HR professional who can balance the responsibilities of an HR Generalist with a strong emphasis on talent acquisition for our San Marcos, California office. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to wear multiple hats – from managing employee relations and HR compliance to sourcing candidates and coordinating the hiring process.
This role will support he day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department while also driving recruiting efforts to attract and retain top talent. The HR Generalist & Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management in supporting employees. Must be trustworthy with company sensitive information, detail oriented, and a self-starter and have the ability to work under strict deadlines with varied conflicting priorities. This individual must practice high standards of professional ethics and personal integrity in the best interest of the company. This person reports to the Human Resources Manager. This position is Exempt, and performs duties on-site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Recruiting Functions
- Manage full-cycle recruitment: sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating offers for open positions.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective job postings.
- Maintain applicant tracking systems to ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Build and maintain pipelines of qualified candidates for future needs.
- Manage job offers, pre-employment screening, employee orientations, and E-Verify
- Main contact for temporary staffing agencies
- Process new hires and related paperwork
- Coordinate onboarding activities, ensuring new hires are integrated smoothly.
HR Generalist Functions
Time and Attendance
- Work in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager regarding the time clock, entering and maintaining both exempt and non-exempt employees
- Oversee daily time reports for employees and temporary workers Benefits
Benefits and Compliance
- Administer employee benefits, leave and HR policies in compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
- Manage company monthly health and welfare self-billings
- Assist with the execution of Open Enrollment annually for all employees during year end Workplace Compliance
- Maintain HR records, ensure compliance with labor laws, and helps prepare reports.
- Administer various human resources policies and procedures for all company personnel
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment such as EEO and others
Employee Relations
- Supports employee relations by addressing routine questions, escalating complex issues as needed
- Assists with performance management processes, including reviews and coaching support
- Prepares and maintain employment records
- Coordinate conferences and special events, such as luncheons and celebrations
- Assists with management of injured workers
- Supports management of leave of absences with internal and external parties as needed.
- Assists with performance evaluation program
- Assist in preparation of documents pertaining to terminations, including the employee’s final check, COBRA and HIPAA documentation, 401K disbursement forms, and other documents that are required at the time of separation
Training and Development
- Assist with management of E-Campus e-learning system
- Support training and development initiatives to enhance workforce capabilities.
- Provide administrative support for personnel
- Contribute to HR Projects such as engagement surveys, Diversity / Engagement initiatives, and wellness programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and three to five years human resources experience or similar combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of strong full-cycle recruiting experience, including using Applicant Tracking System (ATS), especially with Jobvite
- Must have technological skills working in Microsoft applications with proficiency in Excel, Word, and understanding and experience with database and spreadsheet concepts
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to read, analyze and interpret administrative laws
- Trustworthy individual with company sensitive information, detail-oriented, and a self-starter required
- Ability to work under strict deadlines with varied conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- This position requires the individual to practice high standards of professional ethics and integrity in the best interest of the company
Physical Requirements
- Primarily sedentary work in office environment; must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Frequent use of computer; ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions.
- Ability to see and read computer screens and printed materials.
- Occasional walking, standing, bending, and reaching when accessing files or office supplies.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g. office supplies, small equipment).
- Occasional entry into production areas which may involve walking and standing on concrete floors for extended periods.
- Use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, or other required PPE.
- Must be able to adhere to all safety protocols in manufacturing / production zones.
Special Position Requirements
- This job operates in an office with frequent exposure to manufacturing environment. Most office environments are climate controlled while the manufacturing environment is not.
- The manufacturing environment has mechanical and chemical hazards; training and PPE is provided to minimize risk.
- This position may require domestic travel across the USA for multiple days, up to twice per year or more.
