We are seeking an Associate Director, Talent Acquisition to serve as a strategic business partner and recruitment lead, to help drive end-to-end hiring strategies across key functions such as commercial, quality, manufacturing, and clinical within a start-up biopharmaceutical environment. This role has significant strategic and operational impact, aligning talent acquisition efforts with organizational growth and workforce planning objectives. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Associate Director proactively identifies talent gaps, implements data-driven solutions, and partners closely with hiring managers to enhance hiring effectiveness and support critical business priorities. 

 

FLSA Classification: Salary, Exempt  
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Monday to Friday  
Reports to: Chief People Officer 
Location: Fully Remote 

 

What You’ll Do: 

As an Associate Director, Talent Acquisition, you will play a key role in supporting our recruitment operations:  

Full-Cycle Recruitment Leadership 

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment processes across assigned functions 

  • Develop and execute targeted sourcing strategies utilizing direct sourcing, networking, industry research, and talent pipeline development 

  • Manage hard-to-fill requisitions with a proactive, research driven sourcing methodology which may include partnering with external search partners 

  • Ensure a high-quality candidate experience aligned with Immatics’ values and employer brand. 

 

Operational Excellence 

  • Oversee requisition management and reporting within Workday Applicant Tracking System (ATS

  • Optimize workflows, data integrity, and recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, quality of hire, offer acceptance rate, etc.) 

  • Drive continuous improvement in TA processes, tools, and systems. 

  •  Establish and maintain structured interview processes to improve hiring quality, reduce bias, and enhance decision-making.  

  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and pay transparency requirements. 

  •  Partner with HR and Compensation teams on offer strategy, competitive benchmarking, and negotiation for critical hires. 

  • Manage relationships with external search firms, recruiting vendors, temporary agencies, and talent platforms to ensure optimal sourcing strategies and cost effectiveness. 

  • Partner with HR and Communications to strengthen Immatics’ employer brand, ensuring consistent messaging across talent attraction channels and positioning the organization competitively within the biopharmaceutical talent market.  

Scalability and Growth 

  • Support organizational growth in both start-up and post-FDA approval environments 

  • Build scalable hiring frameworks to support rapid headcount growth 

Leadership  

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and subject-matter expertise to members of the Talent Acquisition team, supporting development of recruiting capabilities and best practices 

  • Serves as a senior resource to recruiters and coordinators on complex searches, candidate strategy, and stake holder management.   requisitions, offers and other recruiting matters  

  • Provide functional leadership to recruiters or coordinators and assume direct people management responsibilities as the Talent Acquisition function expands. 

  • Develop, own, and continuously refine comprehensive recruiting strategies aligned with business objectives, commercialization timelines, and functional workforce plans 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to senior leaders and hiring managers, coaching on role definition, interview best practices, selection methodology, and inclusive hiring 

  • Lead full-lifecycle recruitment across assigned functions, including proactive sourcing, talent mapping, and pipeline development for specialized and hard-to-fill roles 

  • Partner cross-functionally to align talent acquisition considerations into business planning, growth initiatives, and organizational design discussions 

  • Leverage Workday ATS to manage requisitions, maintain data integrity, track recruiting metrics, and optimize hiring workflows 

  • Drive continuous process improvement, scalability, and operational excellence within the Talent Acquisition function 

 

Secondary Functions:  

  • Support Talent Acquisition system enhancements, reporting improvements, and process optimization initiatives, partnering with leadership on implementation and adoption 

  • Contribute to workforce planning discussions and provide talent market insights to inform hiring forecasts across functions. 

  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects or initiatives that impact hiring readiness, organizational scaling, or commercialization milestones.   

  • Lead/manage MSP (Managed Service Provider) in implementation and/or post implementation. 

Required Experience and Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business, or similar field (or equivalent experience)  

  • 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience within biopharmaceutical industry 

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting across multiple functional areas within biopharma, commercial, quality, manufacturing, and clinical functions 

  • Experience supporting organizations in start-up phases including experience through FDA approval and/or commercial launch milestones 

  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS); Workday experience strongly preferred 

  • Strong direct sourcing capability  

  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority 

 

 Preferred Experience and Education: 

  • Experience recruiting within cell therapy or advanced biologics 

  • Experience leveraging recruiting metrics, talent analytics, and workforce insights to inform hiring strategy 

  • Experience implementing and/or leading an MSP (Managed Service Provider) to administer a contingent workforce 

  • Ability to lead and execute self-sustainably with minimal supervision 

  • Ability to lead self and others; accountable for strategy and operational execution within area of responsibility 

  • Strategic impact with enterprise-level thinking 

  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills

Work Environment: 

This position works in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels and uses phone, computer. 

 

Travel required: Limited travel  onsite to Immatics Houston 

 

Physical demands: 

  • Communicating Verbally – expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others to convey detailed spoken instructions or other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.

  • Near Visual Acuity – clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (working with small objects, reading small print, including the use of computers).  

  • Pushing - Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the object. 

  • Pulling - Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force.  

  • Sitting  remaining in a sitting position for at least 50% of the time. 

  • Standing/Walking - remain on one's feet in an upright position at a workstation.  

  • Stooping  occasional bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist - requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
